This past Saturday

Around 11:00 a.m. this past Saturday morning Kris and I were on our way to have lunch with my Mother in Reading. As we were slowly driving in the rain along Township Line Road in Limerick Township, a very large dead tree suddenly fell onto our car, hitting the hood with great enough force to stop us immediately and deploy the airbags. Apparently, the all night rain had loosened the tree's grip in the ground. The force of the tree completely destroyed the front end of our car and pushed it into the body of the car. It appears that a passing garbage truck took the force of the tree's hit and saved us from a worse hit.

I was able to get out on my own. Immediately, people came to help, called 911 and ministered to Kris. Kris stayed in her (driver's) seat unit the EMT's arrived. She was transported by ambulance to Pottstown Hospital. After several hours (and thanks to the Lisa and Jeff Somers who came to get us) we were released. On the way back to Lansdale we found our car and removed our personal belongings. We are both banged up and sore but we'll be okay. I'm fairly sure our Toyota Camry is a total loss.

We are aware of how much worse this easily could have been and are glad to be safe and alive. We thank God anew each day and, especially, this day for God's gift of life!
